Adrenal Fatigue & Fat Loss…. Your adrenal glands impact fat loss in a major way. It is also one of the overlooked keys to lasting health, happiness and vitality. Since over 90% of dieters regain the weight they lose, it is clear that the good old “eat less, exercise more,”model is not working. So please read on to learn more about this vitalty-sapping problem or contact us for personalized adrenal fatigue fat loss coaching.

In any well run business, entrepreneurs often look for the obstacles that are holding them back. Hormonal health is a key obstacle of successful fat loss, overall health and feeling great. This is why it is vital to learn to manage our hormones with the right foods at the right time and the right amount of the right exercise.

Insulin and leptin are vitally important hormones for losing belly fat which we will cover in another post. Today lets talk more about the growing problem with adrenal fatigue and what you can do to overcome or prevent it.

In many cases with my fat loss coaching customers, the root of adrenal burnout or fatigue is often stress, which tends to reduce our sleep quality. This sleep deficit often leads to more consumption of coffee or other stimulants.  Over time, adrenal exhaustion sets in, which in turn can kick off a cascade of disease processes into motion including diabetes and heart disease the USA’s #1 killer.

One typical sign of adrenal burnout is feeling chronically fatigued even after sleeping 7 to 8 hours without an alarm. With coffee shops like Starbucks so common and that the average American now  takes in a whopping 180 lbs per year of refined sugars is surely evidence enough. ( By the way, the 180 lbs of sugar / year figure is a whopping 27% increase since 2003).

5 of the most common adrenal fatigue factors are…

  • Chronic emotional stress
  • SAD – Standard American Diet
  • Chronic inflammation
  • Too much caffeine or other stimulants
  • Too little or too much exercise

These process happen over time as your stress response overloads your adrenal glands often promoting a cascade of chronic health problems, such as:

  • Sleep disorders
  • Weight gain
  • Fatigue
  • Hair Loss
  • Depression
  • Insulin Resistance
  • Cardiovascular Difficulties

In many cases, well meaning overworked doctors will just prescribe a pill that fits the symptoms. This leaves the adrenal fatigue unresolved. A far better approach requires time  to understand the unique situation each person is facing. Then a better personalized lifestyle program can be crafted. This means better choices including managing stress, exercise and sleep plus personalized nutrition plan.

Bruce Rind, MD, is a holistic endocrinologist who knows a lot about reversing thyroid and adrenal problems. According to Dr. Rind the health of our thyroid and our adrenals is linked. So if one goes bad, the other one probably will follow soon.

This is why adrenal gland problems can seem to be thyroid problems.  So if the adrenal glands are under fire by not managing stress, lack of sleep, sugar and/or caffeine  and the typical American high carbohydrate heavy processed foods, thyroid gland problems will show up along with the adrenal problems sooner or later.

Why is this such a big problem?

Because thyroid problems often end are linked with insulin resistance problems.  Development of insulin resistance is a HUGE problem as this has a direct effect on how long you live + your quality of life.

This happens because as insulin resistance, adrenal fatigue and/or thyroid problems enter the picture, the domino effect to Metabolic Syndrome begins. This is a big name for a group of risk factors which can lead to Type 2 diabetes, strokes and heart disease.

According to another endocrine system expert, Dr. Daniel Kalish, approximately 95 percent of his patients report a major emotional stress around the time their health began to falter.

Dr Kalish normalizes dysfunctional adrenals and restores normal adrenal function. It’s a clinically validated method that’s been used for a long time, yet most old school physicians are still not aware of it as the big money AMA seems to favor the folks at big money Big Pharma.

What To Do Next?… How to Test Your Adrenal Function

Most people tend to see an endocrinologist first,  who would evaluate your adrenal glands, or perhaps a doctor of internal medicine. Unfortunately, many of the MDs tend to primarily test for specific very rare diseases like Addison’s disease or Cushing’s disease.

As stated by Dr. Kalish:

– “ In the conventional medical world, they’re really not aware of the kinds of lab tests called a functional adrenal stress profile. It means that we’re not worried about the disease processes as an endocrinologist would be, but we’re really looking at functional problems.

Those are problems that are not going to send people to the hospital, but are more of disrupting your day-to-day life. These would be fatigue, depression, problems with weight gain, and problems with sleep.

Those types of issues – the functional adrenal problems – that aren’t severe disease processes, are determined better by either salivary testing, or some doctors also use urine samples.”

According to Dr Kalish The adrenal protocol calls for carefully replacing just a small portion of the exact level of the missing adrenal hormones including DHEA and the precursor to cortisol called pregnenolone, which instigates your body to begin producing it more naturally.
